In the first video “The Power of Communitas,” we introduced Victor Turner’s concept of communitas – unique, egalitarian bonds that form when society enters a state of liminality.
In this week’s video lecture, we go a step deeper. We examine how the “in-between” spaces of our lives compel us to reflect critically on the systems around us and the identities we occupy within them. Once you see what is broken in society (and in yourself), you cross an ethical threshold. You simply cannot unsee the truth.
I also share real-world insights from my own research, highlighting how, during the global events of 2020, everyday people turned their heightened awareness into tangible action, mutual support, and profound personal reinvention.
