Who am I now? Who are you when the world you know disappears overnight?

In this week’s video, I’m opening my heart about a topic we all think we understand, but rarely define: Identity. I bridge academic research with my own personal life journey – from the emotional shockwaves of the collapse of Yugoslavia in the 1990s to the unexpected challenges of navigating diverse Canadian communities as an immigrant here in Victoria.
Identity is our life’s compass. When it breaks down, we experience deep inner confusion and social disorientation. But as I’ve learned through tears and deep integration, our thresholds of struggle are often where we find our true, total self.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and stories in the comments:
👉 Are you currently navigating a shift in your identity?
👉 How does your cultural background shape how you experience yourself today?
